There's way too much confusion about why he gets so much attention, so let me share my thoughts.

On TV shows, the most hated character is often the most popular with fans and boost Nielsen ratings for the show. Take the show House, for instance. House is one of the most abrasive a-holes in the history of television and yet is an overwhelming favorite amongst the TV viewing audience. Simon Cowell was the most hated judge on American Idol and yet was the overwhelming favorite judge amongst viewers.

At ABC, we've spent years trying to create or purchase content to capture what the title character on House creates. Fox has figured something out that my network hasn't been able to. 6ix has also. In the multi-billion dollar media sales business, 6ix would be what's referred to as a 'bankable asset.' On this site, the community itself is both the show and the audience, and this is why there's a love/hate obsession over him here. Okay then, this shoud give those "Popularity" polls an interesting twist. :)

It also explains why there are over 12 threads active right now all about 6ix. Now that's my 2 cents on this whole issue. I don't plan on saying any more on it.

Homer Simpson is popular too. So was Maxwell Smart and Inspector Jacques Clouseau.

A better bankable asset would be video footage of the cat fight over gets to rim him.

Vociferous, those are excellent examples. They're all bankable assets! They aren't good examples here though because those are likable, even beloved, characters. Chris is the hated kind, which is why I used House and Simon as examples. You're all on the right track though.

I think you missed my thesis. It is okay, it was probably a bit too subtle for you.

Being sarcastic isn't going to change anything, Vociferous. My point is still what it is.

Fly is as gargantuan of an asshole as 6ix. I wonder why people are less likely to argue with him . . . .
  10. Kumbucha Lurker

You're trying to compare sixix to House? You're a fucking moron.
  11. SPrada Active Member

Because Fly is unable to get people started the same way. Chris hits nerves. We've been trying to figure out why House is so successful when other asshole characters fail. To answer your question, it's a timing thing. So I can't answer that. Ask Chris to explain it to you. He probably knows what he's doing. Just look at you - this whole thing bothers you so much you can't stop replying. It just burns you up, doesn't it?
  12. Kumbucha Lurker

He doesn't hit nerves. He just says the dumbest shit that makes people go "Are you a fucking idiot? Here's how it really is." Then he just says how he's so smart and we all follow him around. That's not the same as hitting a nerve, unless it's our natural reaction to keep people from doing stupid shit that's harmful to the rest of us.

You can't even stop posting, Kumbucha. He bothers you most of all. LOL
  14. Kumbucha Lurker

I can't stop posting because I'm addicted to the internet. Your monkey is just incidental to that.

I was just trying to help you discover the correct answer, like a good instructor, rather than just outright giving you the answer. Unfortunately . . .

Fly does get people riled up, but he also backs up his obstreperousness with a reasonably well-provisioned armory of facts, wit, education, and logical arguments.

It is a lot more satisfying for the average person to argue with an asshole, if that asshole be less intelligent and less educated than that average person. That average person can be assured that he completely destroyed the Shlomo's argument (whether that Shlomo be intelligent enough to realize it is another matter). There is a reason why Sub's posts garnered so many threads and attention, much like 6ix's threads.

6ix is the East Coast Subversion.

Vociferous, this is really upsetting you, isn't it?

    /thread

That's all it is. No one loved sub more than I did, and he was a fucking idiot, too.

Also...FWG is bad ass, AND he backs his shit up.

Fly White Guy is largely ignored. Ever since he claimed all govermnent should abolished, I stopped paying attention to him.

Fly is not a bad ass and he backs up nothing. Frankly the use the word bad ass on this forum makes me want to laugh.
