because the thread will serve as doing my care in the community good deed of giving him attention, and because I quite fancy him going for the hatrick and creating another thread about me.

    Wow, you are dumb.

But what if he blocked you first?!
  5. Kumbucha Lurker

His "mind" will morph it into a compliment because it's exactly what he wanted you to do. He has psychic powers over people, ya know.
  6. Starfish Pink bunny

Obviously he's really gotten to you--probably because you're jealous of all the fine ladies in his life--if you need to announce that you've blocked him.

The funny part of this thread is that Dave is the one who initiates most of conversations with 6ix. Chris will say something about soccer to Senna or me and Dave will get upset and take him on, so who's fault is that? Dave and Pheasant both do this.
  8. Dave Active Member

Of course I am, I model myself on you.

No you don't Dave. Yes Debbie is dumb and you might be too but it's a different kind of dumb. You're actually likable.

1 less person to give him the attention he so desperately seeks.

    Sadness.

Kahlua, why is 6ix so interested in football/soccer anyway? I thought that the only people who play it in the USA are girls and David Beckham.

These 3 things come to mind for me

There are tons of soccer fans in the U.S., Alice. It's immensely popular for both sexes.

    1-what starfish said
2-in the US, we have lots of 80- to 90,000-seat stadiums. you know, that wembley joint you guys have over there that you guys think is 'the shit?' yeah, well, we've got over 20 stadiums like that over here, and guess what happens when top teams from europe visit and play friendlies? we fill em up, for damn matches that don't even count.*
3-in 1994, we set the attendance record for the world cup, with 3.59 Million fans seeing live games, which still stands today, damn-near 20 yrs later. in '06, germany saw 3.36 Million go to games, what i call a distant 2nd.

*the reason we don't support the MLS is cos it's shit, and the reason it's shit is cos american's aren't stupid enough to pay soccer players any more than their worth, which is about $5 Mill/yr, which doesn't exactly compete well with the moronic owners in europe who lose money paying such fags as ronaldo 3 times this amount to play a sport with no commericial breaks to make ad revenue.

Yes, all this. Soccer is very popular with kids here, boys and girls, always has been.

Absolutely the worst thing about America. Ads.

    you prefer this --> http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/may/27/uefa-michel-platini-club-financial-regulations

and btw, every few yrs the idea of paid tv floats in the US and although senna can speak to it better, since she sells tv ad time for a fox affiliate, americans polled always beg to keep tv free, with ads.

i know in the UK, you guys pay for sky tv to see your most popular sport, something unheard of over here, so in addition to the soccer leagues in europe all losing money, i.e. cos the sport doesn't bring in enough to support the player wages, manly cos there are no ads anywhere other than that scroll crap along the touchlines, you guys have to pay a fee just to watch soccer players fall down and fake injuries cos they're tired and need breaks the game wasn't sensible enough to put in for them.

    i prefer our method.

Sky tv is more than just sport...the 5 sky sports channels we get is an absolute fraction of the channels we get and the monthly amount I pay. We pay for sky tv. There just happens to be sport on it. We also have ads, between and during shows. Just not during live events and movies.

If they started showing ads during matches, I would switch off. Depending on my cash flow at that time I would buy a season ticket and go to every home game.

Also to suggest every club (or even most clubs) in england/europe are losing money is just false.

Also, how much sport do you get in America that is on free tv?
  20. 6ix Guest

well, no, not every team in every league, but the EPL is $3 Bil in debt, la liga $3.5 Bil in debt, and obviously you wouldn't need a rule coming into effect requiring clubs break even (i.e. stop money) if lots of clubs weren't losing money.

maybe the football component of what you pay for sky tv is a small fraction of the total bill but the pt is, you do have to pay for it. when i'm talking to vonniegee during a live match, she can't see it, cos she doesn't pay for it.

we don't have this issue, cos unlike the EPL, which needed to start charging in the early '90s to grow the league, the sports in the US has always been well-funded by advertisements that have always kept it free.
