Logical Phallacies

Voc, if ad hominem attacks are not credible arguments and tarnish the person using them, then why do you continue to use them yourself?

I just find it odd when every so often I find Voc going on a rant about how ad hominems are not credible and insults everyone who uses them when he himself uses them so often. Kind of hypocritical isnt it?

I mean, I think its ok to use ad hominem attacks even if they are not logical proof of an argument. I use them because it feels good to express those opinions sometimes even though it isnt scientific proof. Sometimes not every shred of conversation has to be scientific proof of something. I am not a hypocrite when I use them.


What I think it *really* means when Voc starts complaining about ad homs is that I hurt his feelings and please stop insulting him. He obviously isnt against them on principle since its his favorite phallacy to engage in.

It's quite clear the difference between using ad hominem arguments as the crux of an argument, something you do, and using them just to plainly insult you.

Dear Diary, today after a quick google search I learnt what ad hominem means. I was hoping that knowing that would improve this thread, I was disapointed.

The logical phallacies thing has always struck me as really silly, but Sub, the more you play into it, the more power you give it.
