Blog Update on "Project M and the Road Trip" (to LA)

ok i've been kicking around a few more ideas to enhance this road trip experience. they involve starfish, so hopefully her divineness will reconsider allowing her role in this. otherwise i've been wasting my time thinking. anyway, here's the idea:

you will recall before there was a bit of a hiccup in the planning when it came to starfish's wardrobe, since a 4 ft woman would look a bit imbecilic in a black suit. not to mention there's been this lingering concern with time, since a steady drumbeat of stoppages at clinics, and emergency rooms (where available), to repeatedly get starfish looked at for no reason will slow us down immensely. oh, i forgot to mention something. i estimate the drive to take 23.54 hrs, not including our detour to Area 51 and at least a few hrs of getting lost somewhere in TX, which i feel is inevitable. so yes, we need to put some clamps on medical interruptions. nobody's trying to spend 4 days in a car one-way. so...

this is what M and i will be wearing, and just ignore the afro, since i won't have that:

accompanying us will be starfish, wearing, yes, a black suit, with a special attachment.

you'll note we'll be equipping her with an oxygen system to limit her exposure to air. i'm expecting that cutting off the germ intake in this way will hinder her delusional spasms that she's sick when she's not and keep us on the road longer. yes, i realize this will add a complication or 2 into our stops at rest areas. we should get a few strange looks at wendy's, as an example. a black man and a white man in Pulp Fiction suits accompanied by a 4 ft tall woman breathing steam into a clear mask would normally require some explaining. but frankly, we won't have the time to respond to the stares. to keep things simple, we'll be getting our food TO GO.

there is the small matter of getting her tank refilled in transit. i still need to work that out.

Nicy has already clearly stated she'd rather have Kahlua and I come with rather than Starfish. This is gonna flop, if DM ain't happy, nobody will be.

    this is about efficiency, kim

2 more black suits shouldn't be hard to put together, should it come to that

I donno bro, if Starfish is gonna be carrying around a portable oxygen tank. I want a hazmat suit and a pair of goggles.
  6. Kahlua Guest

OMG, LOL. I'm SO waiting to see this crazy sh*t in motion.
  7. BoboTheClown Guest

hazmat suits normally come with helmets, my friend

Portable oxygen concentrator should fit the bill.

that looks like good equipment. i'll check out the specs to make sure it has a handle on it or to see if it rolls.
  10. eviltechie Administrator

There are definitely models with handles and such. This one is just a slightly higher output with continuous flow. All of them plug into the cig lighter.

    LOL@this whole stupid thing
  12. NOS Radministrator

I guess there's no need for a hazmat suit now.

i suspect introducing this sorta breathing apparatus will add a time wrinkle to the front-end and delay our start a bit. acclimating to these artificial air systems can be tricky. we wouldn't want joy to suffocate in the car, for example.

but i told the people i spoke to on the phone who sell this stuff about starfish's difficult nature and so forth and they didn't seem too concerned, so that's promising.

I only go to the doctor when my employer makes me!

Anyway, it's not inhaling germs that's the problem. It's bug bites and sleeping in cold air. Just don't make me go camping and we'll be fine.
  15. BoboTheClown Guest

this sounds like drivel. we're gonna go ahead and hook you up to a tank anyway.

A mask has a lot of potential to cause a freak-out. You're welcome to try it though.

i stated earlier that we'd need a period of training at the outset to get you acclimated to the breathing apparatus

It's been 27 years and I'm not acclimated to wearing the right size shoes. It better be a REALLY comfy and non-constricting mask.
